Charlotte’s case study.

July 1997

After my GCSE’s we went to Italy and Austria on holiday. Half way through the holiday I had about a five day spell where I was very tired and just slept.

August 1997

Consulted my GP who did a blood test for anaemia. I was told that I was borderline and so to watch what I ate and take a multi vitamin.

September 1997

I started the sixth form and was able to study full time for 3 A levels as well as work on a Saturday. The bouts of fatigue continued. I would have 7-10 days where I would feel very very tired and have to sleep for at least 12 hours daily.

December 1997

Due to the bouts of fatigue I reduced the number of hours I worked on a Saturday to just 4.

September 1998

I consulted my GP again as the bouts of fatigue had worsened and were interrupting my school work. I had several blood tests and a chest X-ray. I was told that it was CFS, but was referred to a consultant physician for a second opinion.

Mid November1998

Fatigue suddenly worsened and I began to suffer severe abdominal pains. I was unable to attend school on a regular basis.

December 1998

The fatigue continued to worsen. I was now weak, had abdominal pains, back ache and was suffering with dizziness. I consulted my GP who referred me for an ultrasound (unfortunately there was a months wait).

10th December, 1998

I collapsed at home and was taken by ambulance to hospital. I was now suffering from vertigo, had a lot of abdominal pains and back ache and a temperature. I was admitted due to suspected appendicitis. I was so weak and tired that I was unable to walk and so was in a wheelchair. I was kept in until 14th December. I had a pelvic ultrasound which was normal as well as several blood tests.

16th December 1998

Saw the consultant physician privately. His diagnosis was CFS, but he arranged for me have a pelvic CT scan as I still had abdominal pains. I was unable to walk due to the dizziness and was suffering with vertigo. I was told that I was suffering with postural hypertension which is a symptom of ME and as it was so severe it was the reason why when ever I stood up my legs gave way and was therefore unable to walk. I had several blood tests, all of which were normal. My lymph count was slightly high which is also a symptom of ME.

17th –30th December 1998

I was unable to walk more than a few steps, was very weak and tired. I was also still suffering with vertigo as well as abdominal pain. I was however slightly improving. I was prescribed 8mg Betahistine tablets for the vertigo and ibuprofen for the pain.

1st January 1999

I had a very bad night. I was very dizzy, shivering, the abdominal pain had got worse and I was very weak to the point of being bed bound.

2nd January 1999

GP visited. I was in a lot of pain and felt very spaced out and weak. I had also developed light sensitivity and was wearing sunglasses. I was becoming weaker and the fatigue, pain and dizziness were worsening. The GP could not find anything apparent when I was examined and said that there was no point admitting me until Monday.

4th January 1999

Had an appointment with Consultant, but was too ill too attend myself. My parents went along and the Consultant admitted me for further tests as the symptoms presented were similar to meningitis.

5th January 1999

The symptoms continued to worsen, a bed was available and I was admitted by ambulance to hospital. I had several blood tests, a chest X-ray and a lumbar puncture. All were normal and the diagnosis was CFS and that I had had two bad viral infections. I was kept in hospital until 8th January 1999. Whilst in hospital I had physiotherapy to help me walk. I was much better and was able to walk but not far.

January 1999

I began to make progress. I was given co-codamol as I had a bad headache and back pain from the lumbar puncture. Once the headache had gone I was much better. I spent most of the day resting.

February 1999

I started to attend physiotherapy once a week. I went in the hydrotherapy pool where we did some stretches and gentle swimming. I was now able to walk for 5 minutes.

March 1999

My improvement continued. I withdrew my UCAS application. I was still spending most of the day resting, but for the first time since November was able to go into town shopping. I could only manage one shop and didn’t have any energy to try things on, and was worn out for the rest of the day!

16th March 1999

I returned to school I was only able to attend two lessons a week an hour long. One on a Tuesday and one on a Thursday. I had chosen to take my German A level and take my Maths and Economics in summer 2000.

April 1999

I continued to make slow progress and was able to walk for 10 minutes. My first German exam was 20th April – earlier than I had expected. I was finding that I could only manage to go to school for the two lessons and didn’t have the energy to do any work in-between the lessons. I had a German tutor for my exams and so that was instead of my doing any revision on my own. My memory and concentration were appalling and if I did try to do any revision after 20 minutes I was shattered.

May 1999

I continued to attend two lessons a week and on occasions had even been able to do a ½ hours homework in-between time. I was still attending physio and was now going swimming on a Saturday. I was doing more around the house. I could manage to make myself lunch, but was not able to make myself tea, unless it was a microwave meal. I had even managed to go out for a meal on an evening. My normal bedtime was about 8-8.30pm and I found that if I was out later I suffered for the next week.

June 1999

I was now on study leave. I was able to do about 1 hour revision a week max. This was broken down into 10 – 15 minute sessions and the majority of it was done with my tutor. I was still spending the majority of the day resting.

16th June 1999

I did my German written exam. I was in a separate room as it was too tiring for me to sit in the room with all the other candidates. The exam was 3 hours long and there was not way that I was well enough to manage that length of time. I managed 1 ½ hours of the exam, but had to put my head down on the table and sleep for 20 minutes half way through. I was very tired for the week afterwards.

23rd June1999

My German listening exam. This was 1 ½ hours long with a break in the middle. I had to take this exam in the room with the other candidates. Not only was this very tiring but also quite off putting as I seemed to work much slower that everyone else. I was prescribed 40mg propranolol to help calm my nerves. Unfortunately this affected my blood pressure and when I stood up at the end of the exam I fainted.

July 1999

I had continued to make progress. I was able to go to the Lake District on holiday for a week. I found the journey so tiring that I was not able to do much while I was there. I was now able to walk 10 minutes, but still rested for the majority of the day. When I went into town I was now able to manage about 20-30 minutes and was able to go to the supermarket to help with part of the shopping.

19th August 1999

A level results day. I got a C in my German exam. Unfortunately I was in bed ill with a virus. My ME relapsed and I was back to how I was mid January 1999.

End October 1999

I started to make progress. As well as ME I was suffering depression and panic attacks.

December 1999

Started taking Zispin initially 15mg then 30mg. I was beginning to make progress, but it was slow. I had decided not to return to school to complete my A levels, but to have a year off to focus on getting better.

January 2000

I started going to physiotherapy again. Although I was slowly getting better. Every morning I would wake up with a sore throat, swollen glands and feel hung-over. It was like I just could not get myself going.

February 2000

I started taking Immufix®. I seemed to feel better and as a result more confident.

March 2000

I went to Spain for a week. My energy levels were improving dramatically. When I returned from Spain I started driving again and going to the gym for a minimal programme lasting 15 minutes. My social life also improved. I could stay out until 9.30pm and was able to go to bed later.

May 2000

I started making plans for returning to college September 2000. I was now driving myself around town, going shopping on my own and was able to manage to help to do the full supermarket shop.

Charlotte’s improvement has continued. Charlotte uses Immufix® once daily. Since February 2000, Charlotte’s eating regime was changed. Wheat gluten is out and the foods prescribed have very much made an alkaline diet. Her elder sister has been so impressed that she too has adopted a similar diet.

Charlotte is now busy catching up with her studies.

I have absolutely no doubts that this addition to my diet helped me get kick started in the morning and it is no coincidence that improvements started being made at this time, although they were slow and intermittent. Some days were still bad but the good days were becoming more frequent.

I can recall my first feeling of being unwell back to the Summer of 1999. I had been suffering from flu-like symptoms and instead of taking time off to rest I continued going to work and trying to do the activities I was used to doing like playing football, tennis, golf etc. Over the next few months my health progressively got worse. While participating in sporting activities I would feel tired very quickly almost to the point of fainting and vomiting. This was something alien to someone like me who enjoyed their sport and considered themselves physically fit. Just as noticeable was the period of the time after any kind of physical activity in which it took me to recover. As a result every activity became a struggle. After finishing work I would collapse and be unable to do anything else that night. Incidentally I work in an office which, although busy at that particular time, was not labour extensive and therefore I did not consider work to be a hinderance to my health. I especially remember mornings being particularly difficult. Now most people do not like getting up for work but this was becoming almost physically impossible for me drag myself out of bed. When I did get up I found myself invariably being sick and feeling awful. At this point I was taking paracetamol, ibuprofen, pretty much anything I could get hold off to make me feel better while at work. As well as the feeling lethargy and weakness I was sweating constantly and finding it difficult to concentrate.

While driving to work on Tuesday 2nd November I started suffering with excruciating pains across my chest. Obviously my first thoughts were ‘I’m having a heart attack’. I drove straight to A&E and was checked over and various tests were done including blood pressure cardiography tests. The doctor strongly advised me to take the remainder of the week off and see my GP the next week. I remember going home and sleeping for hour upon hour but instead of feeling better I felt continuously worse. Constant sickness, sweating, muscle weakness, fatigue and dehydration were compounded with loss of appetite and weight loss. Mornings were the biggest struggle as it became increasingly difficult to get out of bed. After 12 hours of sleep I would still feel physically exhausted and while attempting to get in the shower would invariably be sick. The whole getting out of bed, showering and getting dressed process became a 11/2 hour operation. This dramatic decline in health was obviously a big concern to my partner and I. After an initial visit to my GP I was told I was suffering from depression and to go home at rest. I started to take my first prescribed medication at this time – Flouxetine (Prozac). Of course rest was not a problem as that was all I was able to do without feeling bad or uncomfortable. However, it got to the point where even constant rest was not comfortable as I would wake up in the middle of the night with such bad sweats that the sheets would have to be removed and also being violently sick. I was vomiting blood and feeling as low and ill as I could ever imagine. At this point I became extremely worried and feared the worst. Subsequent visits to my GP were met with more concern as my symptoms both increased and also deteriorated. I forgot the amount of blood and urine tests which were taken over the next few months, but it was a lot. Differing results were being recorded. Some of the findings ranged from a low white blood cell count to an abnormal liver function to an underactive thyroid function and it was at this point I was given my second lot of prescribed medication – Thyroxine.

At this time I was also encouraged to try a newly developed energy inducing food supplement called Immufix® to help get me through the day. I have absolutely no doubts that this addition to my diet helped me get kick started in the morning and it is no coincidence that improvements started being made at this time, although they were slow and intermittent. Some days were still bad but the good days were becoming more frequent.

To bring you up to date I returned to work on a part time basis in May 2000. In June 2000 I married my partner Michelle who had helped me with this illness and continues to do so. I returned to work on a full time basis in September 2000 with the allowance that I was still susceptible to having days where I would be weary and fatigued.

I continue with Immufix® and I am working full time again.

There has also been some marginal improvement in the movement of her feet which for about a year had been absolutely immobile, and this gives us hope that in time the use of her legs may be restored.

My Wife aged 72 years was diagnosed with MS late in 1998 although the symptoms of the disease first appeared in 1993 but were unrecognised at that time. We tried the usual medical treatments but the disease continued its course. Furthermore in February of this year an additional diagnosis of Pemphigus was made. The concurrence of these two auto-immune diseases suggested deterioration of my wife’s immune system and consequently it appeared that any remedy must involve the reduction of the free radical levels in her system by strong doses of antioxidants.

Through the kind concern of a family friend in the UK we became aware of Immufix® and started using it late in June of this year. Fortunately, although my wife had been having trouble swallowing, she was able to take Immufix® quite comfortably. She has now only been using the product for just under one month so that it far too early to make a considered judgement on its efficacy and potential. However, in this short period of time we have a positive change in her demeanour in that she has recovered much of her lucidity and interest in the daily happenings around her, and she has a more positive feeling about her future.

There has also been some marginal improvement in the movement of her feet which for about a year had been absolutely immobile, and this gives us hope that in time the use of her legs may be restored. We understand that any substantial improvement in illness of this nature would take at least six months to manifest itself, and so we are hoping that with the help of Immufix® we would have much better results at the end of this time.

Sports writes to thank Be Well on the part your Immufix® played in his recovery from radiation treatment

I am writing to thank you and the part your Immufix® played in my recovery from radiation treatment to my neck and throat following a diagnosis of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. The treatment caused me to lose 28 pounds in weight and generally weak around the whole area.

The treatment finished in August 2000 and in December I resumed training for my sport of triathlon. On Saturday 26th May 2001 I completed the hardest Ironman race in the world crossing the line of Lanzarote Ironman.

I continue to take Immufix® and have recommended it to friends and other triathletes and will continue to do so.

Thanks

The individual stories of several cancer sufferers who have used Immufixto boost their immune systems to help during chemotherapy and other treatments.

Here is the story of the parents of Maurice.

“Our son Maurice, 6 years old, was diagnosed with leukaemia by the end of December 1998 and we took him immediately to the Academic Hospital in Leiden (Holland). From the first day on, he was treated with a standard drug regime.

After two weeks, we started with Immufix® at 40 grams per day. Since Maurice was under permanent control of the Academic Hospital, we discussed this matter with his specialist and, after reading the information of Immufix® , he agreed on a basis of “if it does not help, it will not harm either”. After two weeks, Maurice went from Leiden to the Children’s Hospital “Sophia” in Rotterdam and chemotherapy was instigated. The most significant aspect which we attribute to Immufix® is the fact that Maurice did not lose one single hair during the chemo treatment and even immediately after the MTX treatment his haemoglobin level stayed above 7. Also the white blood cells have never been below 3.5. It was funny to see that the nurses gave him a cap (three times already) and told him “this nice little cap is specically for you Maurice, because, tomorrow morning, you will not have hair anymore”. But so far, Maurice did not need the cap. Maurice is still getting chemo treatment, he is very lively, he never feels sick, he does not vomit after the cure and he goes to school in between the treatment.

Since Maurice, six other Dutch children were put on to Immufix®. This was done in collaboration with their parents, their doctors and Jaap Flikweert of BIODREAM ACTIVE in the BENELUX. All six children were able to leave hospital, lead normal lives, attend school and play with their friends. They just receive chemotherapy and they have not lost their hair.

A young boy only 8 months old was diagnosed with leukaemia in March 1999 and chemotherapy started. After 10 days of treatment his parents met the parents of Maurice (see above) and they told them that their boy was having problems after chemotherapy, due to a swelling of the mucous membranes in the throat. The throat was so painful, the child could not swallow.

The child was given 20 grams of Immufix® a day and within one week the throat problems had gone, and the child could swallow normally. The dose was increased to 40 grams daily, his blood levels have returned to normal and the doctors are very positive about his recovery.

A young man of 17 years was diagnosed with Hodgkin’ disease in February 1999. He too was taken to the Academic Hospital in Leiden. The oncologist treating him was not too keen on Immufix®. He overcame his hesitation saying “its my risk and I trust it, so I am going to use it”. After two months and with no hair loss following chemotherapy, his oncologist decided to increase his daily dose of Immufix® at 80 grams daily. He missed for one week when he went on holiday with some friends. He felt too ashamed making up and taking his drinks each day. However, when he returned from his holidays his hair started to fall out. So he started immediately with Immufix® at 80 grams daily and within a few weeks his hair was growing normally again. In December last year he finished his chemotherapy treatment and has been declared free of the disease. During the whole of the treatment he was able to attend school, to play football and even carried on with his part-time evening job working in a large department store.

Marion Clignet is a top pursuit cyclist. Following three successive World titles (94, 95 & 96), Marion took Olympic SILVER in Atlanta and then created a new world record in the 3km pursuit. Following her fantastic year, Marion’s health deteriorated and she developed muscle soreness, much pain and was finding it difficult to ride. She was diagnosed as having ankylosing spondylitis, a progressive arthritic condition.

By July 1998, Marion’s condition has deteriorated to a life of pain and she contacted us through a mutual friend.

Marion joined in 1998. At the end of September, the drugs were stopped and replaced with Immufix® by mutual agreement. By October, much of the pain had gone and Marion was out training. In November, with some cyclists friends she rode in a mountain bike race in Tunisia. She felt she was coming back. At the beginning of 1999 Marion was in serious training. Pain was minimal and so it continued. At the end of March 1999 she won her first serious race for three years.

Marion’s determination and her recovery to full health from using Immufix® culminated in October 1999 when Marion clinched a championship double in the World Track Championships in Berlin. On the 22nd October Marion ran away with the 3000 metres pursuit, regaining the title she last held in 1996. Two days after winning the pursuit GOLD Marion won the women’s 25 kilometre points race title. And so it continued in 2000, and Marion took the Olympic SILVER in the 3000 metres pursuit and GOLD in the 25 kilometre points race title

Immufix users triumph in Olympic & Commonwealth games

Olympic & Commonwealth Medalist

Some fifteen years ago, BE WELL launched a sports nutritional drink mix which provided carbo-loading, increased stamina and aided recovery. This product was not cheap but did provide excellent results to the user when taken up to one hour before training and competition. One of the users was impressed enough to ask BE WELL to sponsor her with the drink. At our first meeting together, we both concluded that to realise her ambitions, she needed nutritional management and so Brian Welsby of BE WELL became her nutritionist. In an interview with Athletics Weekly soon afterwards, she made public the fact that I was involved as her nutritionist. This resulted in the features editor of Athletics Weekly phoning me to ask for more details of how nutrition would help her. He was told that I believed by the Olympics of 2000 those athletes on nutritional programme would stand more chance of converting their talents to medals. Nutrition, I said, at the time, was the next step forward to better performance. A very sceptical Features Editor said he needed proof.

In the intervening years, she has displayed her talents to the full including in 1996 an Olympic BRONZE in Atlanta, European GOLD in Budapest, Commonwealth GOLD in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, a SILVER in the World Championships in 1999 and an Olympic GOLD in Sydney in 2000.

In fact eight members of our sports squad whom we nutritionally manage were picked for the Olympic Games in Sydney. Of these, two returned with gold medals, one silver and one bronze . All the others made good places. All use Immufix® daily.
